Our Mission
The 1st North Carolina Cavalry Reenactors, Inc.

This is a social and family oriented, multi-state organization which reenacts the life & times of a Cavalryman during the Civil War, participating in living history programs & battle reenactments throughout much of the year. The 1st NC Cav. is a non-profit organization recognized both by the State of NC & Federally as Tax-Exempt, & is a part of the NC Department of Cultural Resources, Historic Sites Section. The 1st NC Cavalry is looking for new and prospective members to JOIN THE CAVALRY! Be a part of this fun & educational hobby.

The 1st NC Cavalry of the 1861-1865 period was the 1st full cavalry regiment taken into Confederate Service. It fought in over 150 battles during the war & was General J.E.B. Stuart's premiere regiment of cavalry. Much research through historical records has been made to assure that all weapons, gear, uniforms, accoutrements & horse equipments are correct of the period. All new members will be expected to acquire their own gear to learn the drill and exercises of the Cavalry trooper - All in a sufficient amount time. Prospective members with horses especially are welcome to join, but horse ownership is not required.
